Help women in Mizoram start their own businesses

Zauthanmui, a mother of two independently runs her household. She took a loan of Rs. 20,000 in July 2013, to start a piggery and also invest in her garment dealing business. She bought two piglets, invested in buying garments which she then sold across towns in Mizoram, and also saved some money in case of an emergency. The money she earns provides for the daily expenses of the family and the education of her kids. She wants to further expand her business and be able to save enough for higher education of her children.
WSDS, a field partner of Milaap works in providing financial support to women across north eastern states of India. The women are given loans to start or expand their businesses in poultry, piggery, tailoring, dealing in garments, selling vegetables, starting a petty shop or beauty parlors.Getting a loan from the bank is a difficult and lengthy process. The loan helps them to not only add to the family income but also many a times, manage the family independently. They gain confidence and also inspire other women around them to take bigger steps towards starting or improving their businesses. Women here in Mizoram are spearheading the movement towards growth and change in the society. The loan helps them take a step towards it.
