My relative named, Bhagyalakshmi is diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. She is 41yrs old and have 2 daughters, 14yrs and 20yrs. Both husband and wife run a small time hotel, "Tatte Idli" @ Hiriyur. Cost of the treatment is arround 30 to 40 lakhs as per the hospital, Shankara Cancer Foundation, ShankarPuram, Bangalore. Since the family cannot afford private treatment, they are now undergoing treatment at Kidwai. Family has a BPL card as attached. Although they are eligible for Atal ArogyaShree plan in Kidwai, the chemotherapy dosage is very high for her condition. There is no negotiation on the dosage as per terms and conditions of the plan. Hence family decided to opt out and go for paid treatment at Kidwai. Treatment will be for about 6 months costing around 1lakh per sitting.
