“He had started walking you know! He would walk around the house in his wobbly steps and I could spend my entire day watching him, playing around. I think that’s how it is for first time mothers, they don’t want to spend even a single minute away from their babies…,” - Ankita smiles and kisses her 1-year-old son, Vaibhav on the forehead as she says this.

Imagine the shock and pain that Ankita must have felt when the doctors told her that her son has blood cancer. It took her days to come to terms with the truth and even now it’s not getting any easier.

He got pale as a sheet of paper, his fever wasn’t going away

In a matter of three weeks, everything changed for Ankita and Yellappa. Vaibhav had a fever and severe body pain. The medicines weren’t helping and little Vaibhav was getting pale and weak by the day.

 

“Finally when the test results came we couldn’t believe what we were told. Vaibhav has cancer! How could a little child like him have a dangerous disease like this?” - Yellappa, father. 

Yellappa doesn’t know if he still has his job

Yellappa is a lecturer at a private college. His income was decent enough to take care of his family of 3 until tragedy struck. In the last two weeks, they have spent around a lakh. For Vaibhav to get better, they would need another 10 lakhs.

 

“I haven’t gone for work in the last one month - I just couldn’t. There is so much to do - running around for the medicines, taking appointments, paying the bills - Ankita is too overwhelmed to do everything on her own. I don’t know if I will still have my job,” - Yellappa, father. 

Vaibhav is scared of injections. He hates chemotherapy - he complains that it is burning him from inside. His parents are trying very hard to continue his treatment but they have nothing left. They are pinning all their hopes on you - even a small contribution will make a big difference in their lives.
