Since the past few years, Nikita has been trying hard to educate the kids and young people in the village free of cost by providing tuition classes. But due to lack of interest and the individual responsibilities to manage their day’s meal, many children stopped mid-way and had to look for ways to earn money, usually through hard physical labor. Some even waste or lose their hard earned money by being involved in various illicit activities. We're a group of like-minded young people based out of Guwahati, Assam. And for the past couple of years we have supported and guided many young people in realizing and fulfilling their dreams, with the hope of creating a better future for themselves. Recently, after coming in touch with this extremely marginalized community from Meghalaya, Nikita shared with us her concern for the community and her dream to start a football academy for these children supporting their immense love for football.
“I am the only girl in my village who could afford to pursue my Higher Secondary education. Most of the people in my community are still struggling to manage a day’s meal. Education has become a distant dream for them. My neighbor who is a father of two kids is an alcoholic and a daily wage laborer. His wife and children face domestic violence due to their inability to manage even the meager amount of food. The children are barred even from going to school as a result of which they are bound to endure all outrageous acts in the house”, Nikita explains.
We are supporting Nikita in setting up a football academy for engaging underprivileged children (both girls and boys) to learn life skills through this very interesting game of football. We're providing the required mentorship to Nikita where we need your support to buy football gears and other necessary equipment’s for their safety and to learn this beautiful game. And we strongly believe that this step towards the development of every child and teenager will uplift the socio-economic condition of the Mawiong community.
Where the money will go:
The money we raise will go towards purchase of football gears and renovation of the football ground. We need football gears for a total no. of 70 children and young people in the Football Academy.
