Their house was burnt, let's not burn their hopes!

A homeless family wants your help!
Dharavi, the biggest slum in India, has been home for Soni's family. Her mother is a widow and has been raising her five children singlehandedly. Soni teaches in a primary school and earns Rs. 7,000 per month. Her siblings include three sisters and a brother who are continuing their education. Against all odds, this family has been nurturing their hopes and dreams for a better future.
On December 18, 2016, a massive fire broke out in the slum and about 100 huts were gutted. Soni's home was one of them. The fire started in a scrap shop on LBS Road around 4 am.
Soni's family survived the blaze, but they lost everything else. The trauma of the loss has been overwhelming. Imagine witnessing one's own home burning until there was nothing but dust?
They knew that this was just the beginning - harder time was yet to come.
"Sab thik ho jayega!" (Everything will be fine), the mother said to her children. Hope still has not abandoned them. They plan to Rebuild their house.
With no roof over their head, Soni's meagre salary is entirely spent on food, education and the surviving on the edge.
Being on the brink of being hopeless of any help, they yet consider their life a nightmare! Only silver lining in their life is YOU!
What we can do?
We plan to help them in rebuilding their house through monetary assistance. With young girls living in open with no roof are desperate for a shelter. We hope to see them back in their house, growing stronger for a better tomorrow.
