About 3 months ago, the 13-year-old son of Naheda Tabbassum and Md. Ezaz suffered recurrent jaundice. Even after medications, when his jaundice returned, the concerned parents took their eldest to a nearby hospital, where they realized that their eldest had been suffering through a more grave disease than they anticipated.
“When my young boy was diagnosed with such a disease, the doctor referred us to a better hospital in Chennai. The doctors here have stated that his liver is damaged, and the only cure for him is a liver transplant. It is like the ground beneath my feet has shaken, I feel so helpless... how could my young child who has so much to live for fo through such a terrible fate?” - Md. Ezaz, father
Chronic liver disease threatens his life, an urgent transplant is his only chance at survival
Diagnosed with chronic liver disease, a condition when the liver tries to repair itself, the scar tissue accumulates, leading to cirrhosis- a late stage characterized by impaired liver function. It can lead to liver failure that threatens the 13-year-old’s life. With such a fatal deterioration of his liver, the doctor has stated that an urgent liver transplant is his only option for survival. The cost of which is estimated to be INR 22 Lakhs.
She is ready to donate a part of her liver to save his life, but the cost is more than they can afford
“I have been tested as a suitable donor for the liver transplant and I'm ready to give everything up for my child. He grew as a part of me, I have fed him and prayed each day for his well-being. No one can understand the pain I'm in right now, to see him lay there in pain, to not wanting to eat anything. My boy was once filled with life, loved playing with his friends, and now he barely has any energy to talk. He is in so much pain, he feels so defeated with this disease, his eyes are dulled with hopelessness and it breaks me to see him like this. Please help us save him. My son has been a bright student, he dreams of becoming a police inspector to protect the weak.
"He wants to go to school again, but this disease leaves him without any energy, he can't go to school anymore. and I feel so helpless. Even after incurring debts and exhausting all our savings, we aren't able to get him the transplant. We can't even afford his hospitalization expenses, and we worry about our next meal each day.
