My Wife, R. SHYAMALA (age:44) met with a very unfortunate accident three weeks ago when driving to work and was thrown off her scooty. Her head hit the pavement nearby causing cerebral hemorrhage and blood clots and she has been in a Coma since then. She has been undergoing multiple treatments at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, Madurai for the past three weeks and has undergone two surgeries to remove the blood clots.
She still is in a coma and has no movement on the left side of her body. Breathing and nutrition are through tubes. The Doctors are hoping that she might come out of coma eventually and slowly recover. An optimistic expectation is recovery in about 45-60 days in hospital setting followed by rehabilitation in about 3-6 months. Each day in the hospital is costing us Rs.15,000 . So far we have spent 4.5 lakhs INR (Till Nov 1st) and expect that medical expenses for the hospital stay and rehabilitation will be about 10 Lakhs INR. We come from a very humble background and do not have any medical insurance. We are currently paying off our bills through the help of our friends and family and are quickly running out of money to support the medical expenses and are in dire need of any financial help we can get.
She is a mother of our two children and is the main breadwinner for the family and the children would like nothing more than to take their mother home and see her go back to being her old self soon. Any contribution you make is highly appreciated and will help in easing the pain of a family going through a very tough time.
