Currently, Shreeja India has an office at Kolkata to serve hundreds of young girls in six locations in West Bengal. We are growing our impact with young girls in both rural and urban sectors. We have two rural schools and two village sites in Birbhum. A team of 10 staff members at Birbhum manages our sports and education programs on a daily basis. Another six administrative and field staff are managing coaching, mentoring and coordination activities from Shreeja Kolkata Office. Shreeja India Country Head sits in Mumbai and the Executive Director works from New York, USA.
Shreeja India has taken their first initiative by coaching football to Tribal girls in a cluster of eight villages in Birbhum. Along with providing all the necessary equipment to play football, Shreeja is also taking care of proper food for the players so that they can continue with their practices with adequate nutrition. Being equally concerned about the education of the girls, a team of teachers are focusing on the education of these girls. In 2018, six girls have qualified out of 11 girls in West Bengal school leaving examinations.
This is a huge achievement as not a single Tribal girl has passed this school leaving examination from these villages for the last few years. The villagers are happy and they want us to continue our education and football for development programs in their villages.
Shreeja India is also associated with Kolkata police to empower street children through sports and education.
Our expenses are on the football coaches, after practice nutritious food, teacher/coordinator/mentor salary, Books and stationery, conveyance and some office expenses. We need the funds now.
