Sadia Praveen does not stay even a minute away from her baby boy. She cannot leave him unsupervised because if he hits his head somewhere even mildly, it will cause him unbearable pain because of the fluid build-up in his brain.

“He cries as soon as we lay him down in bed. He cannot move his head like normal babies. We have not seen anything like this before and are very scared.”- Sadia Parveen, mother of 1-year-old Sayyad Arhan.

Baby Sayyad is suffering from Hydrocephalus, which is the buildup of fluid in the cavities deep within the brain. He will need surgery at the earliest as his condition can turn deadly as the extra fluid puts pressure on the brain and can cause brain damage.

This condition has prevented the baby from reaching important milestones

At 9 months old, most babies would reach important milestones like creeping and crawling, and some would even try to stand up with support. Baby Sayyad Arhan has not reached any of these milestones and neither can he also do something as simple as moving his head from side to side with ease because of his condition.

“He cries all the time, and his crying gets worse especially when we touch his head during a bath or comb his hair. He is getting weak as he eats very little. And because his body is so weak, it is not able to take the weight of his head.”-Sayyad Arif, father of the baby.

His poor parents cannot afford lakhs needed for surgery

Baby Sayyad Arhan’s father, Sayyad Arif works as a manual labourer and also does odd jobs to feed his family of four. When the baby got sick, he had to spend all of his savings just to get him diagnosed with the condition. As soon as his savings ran out, he started borrowing from friends and family to run his household and feed his family. He does not have the money that is required to save his son from further brain damage.

“Why do all the bad things happen to poor people? We run from pillar to post to eat two square meals a day. How will I pay the lakhs needed for my son’s urgent surgery?” – Sayyad Arif, tearfully.
Baby Sayyad Arhan can be relieved of his suffering with your kind help.
