Help Bon And Samir Fight HIV

Story

I am Bon and I was diagnosed with HIV in 2015 and my friend Samir was diagnosed in 2010. I work as a data entry operator with a private company in Agartala whereas Samir runs the Tripura State Network of Positive People --an NGO dedicated to helping the HIV- positive people in Tripura. When I was diagnosed with HIV in 2015 I also decided to help Samir with running this NGO and currently work as its treasurer. Samir works as the NGO’s secretary on a pro bono basis.

Although Me and Samir’s families are supportive of our HIV status they come from humble backgrounds. Apart from the free ART medicine doled out by the govt. of India through its HIV/AIDS program, these young men hardly took anything to help us overcome HIV.

In 2016 Samir and I came across a sympathetic naturopathic physician, Dr. Anjali Pathak, who explained the importance of a healthy, nutritious diet comprising of organic fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy cereals such as red and black rice as well as millets like buckwheat and finger millet (ragi). She also emphasized the value of taking supplements and minerals to help the body heal naturally. However, there was one major hurdle to adopting this plan of natural healing—lack of funds. Enthused and emboldened by Dr. Anjali Pathak’s encouragement, Me and Samir decided to launch an appeal for funds and to make our HIV status public.

Treatment

HIV weakens the body’s immune system greatly. As a result HIV positive people fall sick easily and if their diets are poor and lacking in vital nutrients many succumb to these opportunistic infections. Me and Samir have now realized the importance of eating a healthy diet in order to boost our immune system. This includes eating a good amount of fruits and salads each day and taking various supplements like magnesium, vitamin D, moringa leaf powder etc.  Making and drinking fresh juices and smoothies will also help greatly. The expenditure on this healthy food alone amounts to Rs.10,000 per person each month. Buying the juicers and blenders will also cost us around Rs.51,000. Hence the appeal for funds.

Hope for the future
If you met us in person, We are just as fun loving as any of you.

Samir and I also travel to the villages of Tripura to help raise awareness about HIV, to sign up more people and to raise funds for the NGO we run in Agartala. However, the dark side of this picture is the HIV virus which bothers us and weakens our immune system. There are days when we suddenly take ill and are confined to bed because our immune system cannot cope up with the onslaught of external factors.  Whatever earnings or savings we have spent in combating this infection.

In spite of all the setbacks in life we have suffered after being diagnosed with HIV, Samir and I are upbeat about overcoming HIV through nutritional therapy and a positive mental attitude.  Allopathy tells us that we are doomed because it has not been able to find a cure for HIV. But we believe that NATURE HOLDS THE ANSWER AND THE CURE FOR HIV. Through nutritional therapy, we hope to defeat HIV at its own game. We are reaching out to all of you and thank each and everyone for your contribution from the bottom of our hearts. More power to you!
