My name is Romita Dey. I live in Kolkata. Since 2012 I have been working for homeless dogs on the streets. I have adopted two of them at my home. They are the ones who opened my eyes to the cruelty and agony homeless dogs face on the streets.
Due to shortage of facilities and delayed/no responses from animal NGOs in my city, I have had to learn how to do treatments myself. I treat most dogs myself and sometimes I join other people. I am sometimes supported by kind donors. I am the only earning member of my family and hence often its not possible to continue without any support. Some cases which I have worked on are given below:
Acid attack case, KPC College kolkata
Mange case, Jadavpur, Kolkata
Car accident case, Golf Garden, Kolkata
Maggot wound case, Lake Gardens, Kolkata
The above are my most successful cases so far without taking help of any NGO or organization. I try to sterilize 2 dogs every month. Individual donors help me with this noble purpose. However, recently I came across Tiku, a puppy who was adopted and then abandoned on the road. As soon as she was abandoned, she was bitten by a bigger dog and a cruel human threw stones at her.

When I went to visit Tiku, I found 24 more dogs like her in the same area. Some of them were pregnant and one can only imagine what awaits them.
Tiku maintains a cheerful persona in spite of being abandoned and cooperated fully with all the treatment me and my friends gave to her.
I plan to sterilize Tiku, her mother and the rest of the dogs there.

According to my calculation, there are about 25 dogs. The cost of sterilizing each of them from Mother's Heart NGO is RS 1800. The total comes to Rs 45,000.This campaign is for saving those dogs from a fate like Tiku's. Please help me in giving them dignified lives.Thank you.
