This is the story of Mrs. Ramani who is undergoing treatment for stomach cancer. She is a retired school teacher. Now she is drawing a meagre pension which is not at all sufficient to meet the expenses of her treatment.
Our family consists of I myself (Ramani's husband) and my daughter. Iam taking classes in a small tutorial. My daughter is unemployed and can't go for a job now as she has to look after her mother.
The tragedy struck in 2015 last when she was diagnosed to have an advanced stomach cancer. She had to undergo a major surgery in 2016 February to eliminate the cancerous growth in the stomach. A huge amount of her retirement benefits were spent on this account. Then she underwent 6 cycles of chemotherapy, followed by checkups at regular intervals as suggested by the doctor.
After 1 and a half years, on evaluation she was again found to have a swelling on the side wall of her ovary.The ovary was removed with another expensive surgery. On biopsy that swelling was detected as cancerous. Again chemo was started 10 days after the surgery. Owing to the previous treatment expenses, our family's economic resources have been completely drained.
Patient is ready to fight cancer. She needs to undergo chemotherapy sessions and also targeted therapy to make sure that this deadly disease will never come back.
