    This fundraiser will benefit

    Baby Naishika

    from Kochi, Kerala

“The deep yellow of her eyes, her watermelon sized belly and her painful cries- all of these show how my poor baby is suffering every second without a transplant. I will have to mortgage my house for my daughter’s treatment but it is a long process. But we’re running out of time to save her. Her condition is getting worse everyday and the doctors insisted the transplant has to be done at the earliest. I am doing everything I can but it is still not enough”- Vineesh, father.

Baby Naishika is a 9-month-old baby girl suffering from acute liver disease called Biliary Atresia and to save her life a Liver transplant is compulsory.

Biliary atresia is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. Symptoms of the disease appear or develop about two to eight weeks after birth. Cells within the liver produce liquid called bile. Bile helps to digest fat.

Her grandmother is the donor.

Naishika was treated first at AIMS hospital, Calicut and once diagnosed Naishika's medical condition, doctors referred her to Amrita Hospital, Kochi. Currently she is being treated at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, attach is the certificate from the Hospital complete with patient details.

She was affected by Jaundice in 3 months after her birth. Doctors were sure, Naishika really has a chance for survival. General Medicines were given. After 2 months various tests were done. The doctors decided then to get a liver biopsy. She was then taken to AIMS hospital for HIDA scan. The findings were suggestive of Biliary Atresia. She was admitted at AIMS Hospital on 28th April for further evaluation and management. Later on, she was advised to undergo early Liver Transplantation and from AIMS Hospital, she was referred to Amrita Hospital, Kochi for the Transplantation.

Vineesh and Aswani belong to a middle class family and Vineesh is working with a small house construction team as a daily wage labour where he finds his income to balance his family's happiness.

The surgery package costs 20 lakhs. The family was able to raise only 4 lakhs with the help of their relatives and friends. The remaining 16 lakhs is still needed to go ahead for the surgery, which will save Naishika's life. (Vineesh is trying to pledge his small house property into a bank and that has long procedures. Even though, he is expecting maximum 3 to 4 lakhs from it.)

The condition of Naishika is deteriorating, so the doctors are insisting the transplant to be done at the earliest.

"We request you to help us in this hour, may God bless you."- Vineesh
