Last time I had dinner with my Dad (Mahadevappa) was almost 6 months back. It all started suddenly with my Dad suffering from stomach pain eventually which led to Acute Kidney Failure. Before he recovers from the treatment he was attacked by a rare disease - GBS (Guillain-Barré syndrome).

My Dad's Legs are paralyzed

It was a horrible night where my Dad lost control over his legs and we took him to hospital. before we realize what is going on his hands were paralyzed and doctor alerted for the emergency treatment.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare neurological disorder which causes progressive paralysis, starting from the feet and progressing up throughout the rest of the affected person's body (ascending paraplegia). This is so rare that it occurs among 1 in a lakh. My Dad has to stay in the ICU for at least a month.

My Dad has been hospitalized for more than 3 months. Me and my mother spending day and night in hospital to save my dad. every day my sister asks when will dad come home.

I am the only source of income

We are a middle class family from a village and am the only source of income for the family. I have done diploma mechanical and work for a company.

I have spent already 5 lakh Rs on Acute Kidney Failure and have borrowed a lot for GBS treatment.

GBS treatment major expenses involves:

ICU charges which is 20,000 rupees/day and was in ICU for 20 days till now ( total = 4 lakh)
IVIG Injections - 30, each costs 15,000 rupees. (total = 4.5 lakh)
Ward charges - ~5000 rupees/day

How can you help

My Dad is suffering from a very rare disease. The disease has caused lot of damage to him and he needs proper treatment. I have already spent everything I had and borrowed a lot. since the expense is too high and is growing, am finding very difficult to manage the situation. Without your support, my Dad won't be able to return to normal life

Thank you for the wonderful support that you have shown towards my Dad. He is recovering and is able to move his legs now. Leg movement is still not 100%. He is undergoing physiotherapy every day.

Dear supporters ,
Thank you so much for your contribution to save my dad's life,now he is improving well,we admitted to JSS HOSPITAL,MYSORE for physiotherapy,and now he is able to stand with the help of sticks and our support,doctor told me that he is improving well and it tooks some more time to became normal,untill that we have to continue the physiotherapy .
