    Mukesh Kumar

    from Patna, Bihar

“The last words I heard from my husband were that he wanted to sit with us, and dine together. He said he would soon be healthy enough to eat from the plate, and I had assured him of the same. But only days later, his condition worsened to the point that now, he can’t even drink water, let alone eat on his own from a plate.” - Neelu Devi, Mukesh’s wife

29-year-old Mukesh Kumar suffers from facial tumors and swelling in the face. Initially, it broke out as a rash under his teeth, but after it started aching, Mukesh got the tooth removed, which triggered the spread of the tumor. Soon his entire face, including his cheeks and neck, fell prey to the tumor.

His health has been adversely affected by the growing tumor

As of now, Mukesh is not able to eat, drink, or talk. There is no food going inside his body, his wife does not have enough funds for medicines, and as a result, his health is deteriorating with each passing day. With her husband struggling with his medical condition, Mukesh's wife, Neelu Devi, has taken on the financial responsibility of the family, but is failing miserably. As a means to an end, she started selling tiffins.

“I was stunned when I heard how expensive the treatment would be. The money I made from selling tiffins was nowhere close to being enough to meet my husband’s medical expenses. We don’t have anyone that we can turn to in our difficult times. He was our support system. But now, looking at him like this, bed-ridden and unable to move, speak or even eat, I feel so helpless…” - Neelu Devi

He was the only income earner in the family, now they can barely make ends meet

Mukesh was the sole breadwinner in the family. After borrowing loans from their village, the family had moved to a town in Patna, Bihar, hoping for a better life. They managed to buy a pick-up vehicle, which Mukesh drove to feed his family and pay for his children's education. However, during the Covid-19 lockdown, when the family ran out of funds, Mukesh sold the vehicle, closing the door on his only source of earning.

“Eventually, we were even forced to stop our children’s education because we couldn’t pay their school fees. I can barely afford to pay the rent and utility bills. Some days, I’m unable to even feed my family. In this state, how do I get my husband treated? I don’t know what to do… I can’t see him die in front of my eyes." - Neelu Devi

They are at the end of their tether and need your help to save him

After Mukesh fell sick, dark times began hovering over the Kumar family. Both his children also do whatever they can to support their parents, but their efforts and qualifications fall short when it comes to earning money. Burdened by their financial predicament, Mukesh's wife has left everything to fate and awaits someone who would help her in seeking treatment for her husband.

“Only a wife knows what her husband means to her. We are not in the position to get him treated, and it pains me to see my husband suffering like this. I only want someone to save him somehow. I won't be able to forgive myself knowing that if I had money, I could have saved him." - Neelu Devi

Now, Neelu Devi expresses her financial inability and that she has no stone left to turn. With hopes of getting the treatment, she seeks your support for her husband in his recovery. This family needs your help to overcome these difficult times. They only wish for Mukesh to be healthy so their family can be whole again.
