    This fundraiser will benefit

    Mohammed Shayan

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

“He was born with his right leg shorter than the left. Within one month of his birth, he suffered massive fractures in his legs when I was changing his diaper. We were so shocked! We had never heard of small babies getting fractures so early in life. He is only 2 years old, but he has more than 4 fractures till now,”-Anees Fathima, mother.

2-Year-old Mohammed Shayaan is suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a rare genetic disease that is characterized by having bones that break easily. He needs a corrective surgery to repair the length misalignment of his legs as well as have rods attached so that fractures don’t happen. He needs the surgery as soon as possible but his parents do not have the means to afford it and are asking for your help.

“He needs help to walk and cannot run’

Ever since Shayaan’s parents found out that he had the disease, their lives have revolved around giving him extra care and not letting him out of their sight. The little boy limps when he walks and needs support to walk even the shortest of distances. Shayaan spends most of his time sitting down and playing games that do not require moving from one place to another. They cannot even put him in a playschool yet due to his challenges.

When he watches the children in his neighborhood run fast and play police-thief, he cries and tells me that he wants to join them. I tell him that he can do that later, when he grows up to be big and strong. He believes me and thinks that his leg will be better when he is older. He is too young to understand the truth,”-Anees Fathima.

Disabled and jobless, this father cannot afford his son’s surgery

Shayaan’s father, Mohammed Magdom, also limps when he walks because one of his legs is shorter than the other. Owing to his disability, it was with great difficulty that he was able to complete his education, even getting a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. However, he has not been able to get a job till now. He goes for multiple interviews, but luck has not favored him yet. The family is completely dependent on Magdom’s father for their daily living expenses. In this situation, they cannot afford to pay for Shayaan’s urgent surgery.

With your kind help, this poor boy will be able to walk properly and grow up like a normal child
