They helped build our dreams… today, they need our help!
Do you remember Ram who painted the walls of your home? Or Banwari who served you tea at your favourite restaurant or maybe Mahadev who dropped you in his taxi?  Invisible yet indispensable, their collective efforts made life so much easier for us. Till one day COVID-19 struck, shattering their dreams, snatching away their livelihoods and stripping them of their dignity, till they were left with no option but to return to their villages and start from scratch. And for this, many have even walked back in this sweltering heat covering hundreds of kilometers!

We, at Being You, have been trying to do our bit to make their movement a bit more comfortable. Through this, we have witnessed a series of mixed emotions. On one hand, there was 6-year-old Ankita gorging on a chocolate, excited to board the train to her home in Jharkhand while on the other, we had 2 year old innocent, smiling Jeevan, unaware of the crisis around him as his father struggled in vain to get a train ticket to Chattisgarh. Similarly we saw the 150 passengers faces light up as they received the sponsored train tickets to go back home while on the other hand there are thousands of migrants in Palace grounds....waiting, hoping, fighting hunger and thirst. Every day we witness scenes of hope and happiness at one end, and helplessness and vulnerability on the other, and our urge to give back only grew stronger.

Our journey began on 11th May 2020 and as of 24th May, we've been able to reach out to 25,000 migrants. We would always be indebted to all those who helped us in this difficult journey - Hema Hattangadi, Naga Prakasam, Ashwini Charitable Trust, Kumkum Dutta and many more. From providing food and water to sponsoring 150 train tickets - we tried to be there for them. But we still have a long way to go as there are many who need support with food and daily essentials. We have pledged to extend a helping hand towards them and a few underprivileged migrant children in Delhi, as well.

We, believe that SMALL acts of charity can help make a BIG difference!  And each time that we have reached out to you for solidarity and support, we’ve come back overwhelmed and humbled by your outpouring of love.

Today, we appeal to you again, this time to support the migrants in rebuilding their lives and letting humanity win this fight against CORONA VIRUS. We are looking to crowdfund and help these migrants lead a life of dignity, either in Bangalore or back in their villages. Our initial target is of 8.5 lakhs – we hope to achieve this through your goodwill and compassion. Help us help them rise from the COVID rubble and lead a life of dignity!
