“Even the slightest of movements send shooting pain to my grandson. He is suffering a lot, more than he can bear. What has he done so wrong that God is punishing him like that? Cancer is something that leaves even the adults shattered, he is just a little boy who has barely seen the world.”
-Abida, grandmother

He needs continued treatment to survive

2 years ago, Arbaz’s mother spotted a small bulge in his eye and went to the hospital. Despite taking numerous medicines, the spot only grew and they wandered from one hospital to the other to find the root cause. In 2 months, the spot turned into a tumour and it started bulging outwards. Soon he was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, cancer.

6-year-old Arbaz is suffering from Retinoblastoma, a deadly form of cancer that develops in the retina of the eye. His right eye is bulging out of its socket and there is no other option but to remove it to stop the cancer from growing. Further, he needs stronger doses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant to fully kill cancer living inside his body.

Alcoholic father abandoned the family

“For months we kept running from one hospital to the other, getting whatever treatment the doctors suggested but we couldn’t save the vision of his right eye. He underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy too but it is not enough. Now his eye needs to be removed and he needs a transplant. Although he will lose his eye, his life is what matters more, which still can be saved. But I...we can’t afford it.” -Abida

Arbaz’s father is an alcoholic and has outrightly said that he has nothing to do with the child. With no one to support financially, Arbaz’s mother and his grandmother struggle to keep up with the expenses and save his life.

They need your help

“We sold everything we could and I mortgaged our house too, now we barely have a few hundred rupees to continue. Looking at Arbaz, I can’t help but cry...water drips from his eyes and he can’t even wipe them. His head aches badly and he cries most of the time. He should be playing, learning, and enjoying life like other children but he is confined to his bed. And I, I can barely afford food for me and my daughter-in-law now. Please help us save Arbaz! -Abida
