Madhupriya Needs Your Help To Recover From Severe Burns

Madhupriya, a 9-year-old girl, unfortunately, had to play a victim to domestic violence a few years ago when her father orchestrated an accident to end lives of her mother and herself by blasting a gas cylinder at their home. The mother passed away but Madhu Priya struggled out of it with severe burns over her body especially face. Abandoned by her father, she has been raised and loved by her aunt and uncle. They have managed to gift her education and a life as normal as possible by working as a housemaid at several houses and doing labor jobs.

They have been constantly trying to find a way to erase the disfigurements on Madhupriya's body through reconstructive surgery but in vain because of their financial conditions. She needs to conceal cartilage graft with full thickness skin grafting along with Z-plasty for repair of the lower eyelid. She has facial deformity secondary to burns injury. The surgery and hospital stay will cost approximately 1.3 lakh rupees.

She will need to stay in the hospital for 5-6 days post operation. This surgery is for one-half of her face and this has to be done at the earliest possible as one eye is in danger of losing vision. It will take place at Axon Speciality Hospital at Indiranagar under the supervision of Dr. Prashantha Kesari N K if they manage to arrange the required amount on time.I request you to help Madupriya.

6th February 2017
Dear supporters,

I am Debotri Roy, an open fellow at Milaap. I have great news to share about Madhupriya’s health.

The 9-year-old baby girl accidentally injured herself and got severe burnt marks on her face. But with the timely support and contribution of the donors, she underwent an operation on 25th January 2017.

"My child is doing really well, and she is fine. Although she is too tiny to tolerate such pain, she is brave enough to fight back", said Madhupriya's aunt. According to the doctor, the operation was 100 percent successful. The bandage from her face has been opened. But, we can see the changes in her face only after it heals, which will probably take 3 weeks time.

There was an urgency in regards to the operation since she was on the verge of losing her eye sight. The stitches around her eye have been removed. Apart from her face, the doctor has also operated too some extent in her abdomen and legs. Presently a crutch has been fixed in her legs so as to avoid the delay in recovery.

Madhupriya has been discharged on 31st of January. However, she will not be able to attend school till the end of February.  Her guardians are overwhelmed and thanked the donors for coming forward to help this child confront such a huge challenge.

"Madhupriya has been suffering since long. We don't know how to thank you all. It would not have been possible to cover the operation and medical expenses without your help", said her aunt.

Thank you once again. We will keep you posted on her progress.
