THE PROBLEM:
As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable. In testing times as these, the need to be safe and healthy is not lost on us. However, this isolation period has truly isolated us from witnessing the traumatizing situation of those poor and needy, the difficulties of the homeless and the hardships of the section of society who cannot afford to be safe and healthy. One such important section that Bhumi closely works with, are the shelter homes and the children residing in them. Across India Bhumi is closely associated with around 200 such orphanages & they are facing the brunt of this lockdown more than any of us. Mainly dependent on donations these homes are now struggling to provide the basic three meals to their children. Among this homes one is Loreto Rainbow Home. Imagine their plight with each home having an average of around groceries 100 children and staff, when some of us are facing difficulties ourselves with a family of 3-4 people to go out and buy enough groceries.
OUR SOLUTION:
We are launching this project to help provide basic grocery to these homes – we have built a strong volunteer team that will call and assess the needs of these homes periodically. Once these needs are recorded, we will connect with a grocery supplier to deliver to the respective Loreto homes.Your support will help us ensure that no child sleeps hungry during this period of turmoil and uncertainty.
THE IMPACT:
We have already started working – (a) our committed volunteers have started calling the homes to asses and value their basic needs. (b) building a database grocery suppliers & delivery services that can help us reach these needs to our home.
