(Reg. No. 63950 of 2009-10)
208, KENDUA MAIN ROAD, BAISHNAB GHATA PATULI KOLKATA – 700 094.
Aishika, a 9 year- old girl, the only child of Shri Tarun Kumar and Smt Subhra Ghosh from Burdwan, West Bengal, has been suffering from Thalassaemia Major. Her disease was diagnosed at her 2 months of age and she is under medication and blood transfusion on a regular basis since then. Now she has been receiving treatment at Tata Medical Centre, New Town Kolkata, (MR No.11/002002) under Dr Mammen Chandy.
To save Aishika, immediate transplantation of bone marrow is the only curative treatment. To pave the way of transplanting Bone Marrow of own sibling, the couple had decided to have another baby in the year 2013. But Antenatal test of the pregnant mother suggested that the fetus carry the same deadly disease. Hence that could not be matured and there was no option left but to go for unrelated matched donor transplant.
The hospital had given an estimate of Rs 35 lakhs for the transplant and allied medical expenses for approx. 1 year. Monthly income of the family is approximately Rs 4000/-. So far, around Rs 17 lakhs could be collected from different Govt Departments, Tata Trust and others. Another 18 lakhs is immediately needed to meet the deficit.
In addition to the above, a recurring expenditure of Blood transfusion and medication is to be continued as advised which estimates approximately Rs.17000/- per month as of today which is essential for her survival till transplantation is done.
Knowing all details and after verifying the fact by visiting the girl’s place, we strongly feel that we can’t stay as mere spectators and should make all possible efforts to stand by the child. We, therefore fervently appeal to you to donate generously to save a precious life.
Your donations may please be sent to Kholo Aankhi, a voluntary developmental organisation founded and run mostly by senior citizens for the cause of children's education and empowerment of women among other activities for our onward transmission to Tata Medical Centre or Tarun Ghosh, father of Aishika, the beneficiary.
