My name is Haasini and I am working as a teacher in Avasara Academy, Pune.
My hometown is Visakhapatnam!!
Everytime I come home for vacation, I conduct a camp for the kids in my community. It comprises of dance, art and crafts. I am home for the Diwali break and wondered if I can try this out at a local orphanage. I immediately contacted "Spoorthi orphanage" and started a night camp there. The kids will have dance and art classes before they go to sleep.
About spoorthi -
Spoorthi is an orphanage in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam. It was started in 2009 with only 3 kids and today's supports 53 kids.
Reason for the night camp-
The kids are busy with school and study hours through out the day. Just because I am in Visakhapatnam for my vacation, I don't have the right to change their daily schedule. So I picked the time in which they are free which is 8pm to 9:30pm. This requires me to travel at nights as the orphanage is far from my home and sometimes requires me to stay back at the orphanage for that night if I cannot find transport. I am committed to this and thanks to the support from my parents, it's going well so far. The camp started on 8-11-2018 and will end on 16-11-2018
So, on the last day of the camp I give gifts to the kids. These gifts are bought with funds collected from family and friends. Till the last camp I did this offline since the number of kids in my camp were 15. This time its 53 kids from the orphanage and since there is very less time limit I approached the online fundraiser option. Your contributions will go towards buying stationery for the kids on the last day and any amount that's left will be donated to the orphanage.
