    This fundraiser will benefit

    Irfan Babu

    from Coimbatore

Three years back, When Doulath’s husband left her for another woman, little did she know about the underlying grit and perseverance she had. From someone who never stepped out of the house to an assistant in a hospital who works 11 hours a day, she rose above her misfortunes to give a comfortable life to her two kids. Now, her 16-year-old son is fighting a failing liver and she is determined to face it and do everything in her strength to save his life.

“I was working on a night shift that day. My daughter called saying “Ma, Anna is vomiting for the fourth time. He is not talking. I’m scared…please come home”. Terrified, I asked permission from my superior and rushed home. My child was burning with a fever when I reached. He couldn’t even open his eyes. He was fine when I left for work but...he looked extremely sick and I knew something big is ailing him” - Doulath, Mother

Test results at the hospital showed that 16-year-old Irfan Babu has jaundice. A few medicines were prescribed that would have cured him. Just when Doulath was relieved, Irfan’s condition became severe overnight and he was admitted in the ICU. His bilirubin levels increased and he was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure.

The news knocked her down – her son’s liver is failing and she got only a month to save him

“Those two weeks when he was in the ICU were the hardest. I would have lost him but my child fought hard and came out alive. He is stable now but his symptoms keep coming back often. Doctors say the medicines will only slow down the process of liver failing. Only a transplant within a month can save his life” - Mother

Even working extra hours won’t help her pay for the transplant

The whole procedure including the transplant and hospital stay will cost around 25 lakhs. Doulath who works as an assistant to nurses in a hospital earns a monthly salary of Rs. 12,000. Even if she works extra hours or takes up two shifts a day she won’t be able to afford such a huge sum within a month.

“Allah has given me the strength to face everything that comes my way. I never cry in front of my kids. I don’t want them to lose hope. I tell the same to Irfan…to hold on, have faith and the pain will end. It’s that hope that keeps me going each day…praying that God will show me a way to save my dear son’s life.”- Mother

Doulath has no one to help her and she is counting on a miracle to save her son’s life. You and your kind contributions can be that ray of hope. Please donate and save this boy’s life.
