History:
The year of 2018 has not begun well for Mr Henry Rodrigues when on 26th January 2018, Mr Rodrigues, a diabetic patient complained of uncontrollable urine discharge. After admitting him in the ICU for his case, the family was told he was suffering from urinary track infection for which he had to be kept in the ICU for 2 and a half weeks. This procedure allowed for a removable DJ stent to be attached in the urinary track which cost the family a total of approximately INR 4 lakh. He was sent home for recovery after his stent operation.
Throughout his stay at his home, he complained of stomach and back pain which forced him to be confined to the bed. After consultation from the doctors he was asked to be admitted for the removal of DJ stent.
After the operation, his haemoglobin reduced drastically and was asked to go in for blood transfusion. While receiving blood, he lost breathe and his heart showed signs of weakening and had to be shifted to the ICCU for a severe heart condition with his heart pumping only upto 15-20%
At Present:
Mr Rodrigues is detected with 3 major blocked arteries and will have to undergo an open heart surgery. The minimum cost is INR 4-5 lakh for surgery, ICCU stay and medicines. However, this cost will increase as he is a high risk patient.
His family lacks the funds as the previous stay in the hospital has eaten into all the savings of the family. Unfortunately Mr Rodrigues is not covered under any medical insurance to ease the monetary pressure off his family and him.
