The severe cyclonic storm Fani hit Odisha and paralysed the state after it made landfall at Puri on 3rd May,2019 with a wind speed of 240 kilometres per hour.  This severe cyclone affected 14 districts, 18,168 villages and taken away 64 lives. Uprooted 14 lakhs trees, destroyed 5,08, 467 houses and 15.09 million of people affected.
Trails of devastation left none, rural communities including farmer, arctician to fisherman, all lost their livelihood.  One of the most affected professions is fishing.  During land fall of Fani more than 11,000 fishing boats collided with each other and many fishing vessels were tossed up by the storm, two lakhs fisherman lost their livelihood.
Anyone can see the current scenario of villages close to Chilika Lake, houses are damaged, fishing boats grounded, fishing nets are snapped aftermath the cyclonic Fani. Fisher folks are is psychological distress condition as they don’t have their boat and fishing net for the coming fishing season which is coming in June & July.
The severely affected fishermen are still waiting for relief materials even as 12 days have passed by. We are working relentlessly to response people in need at ground level. People are living in broken house with insufficient food, water and electricity.
Help us to reach the affected fisher-folks with the relief kits containing food, water, tarpaulin, Solar lights etc to 5000 worst affected families of Krushnaprasad Block of Puri, Odisha.
