Ramkishan is a marginal farmer who has been growing wheat and paddy for decades. His family lives on less than INR 130 per day. He does not have access to information, credit and water to improve his farming practices.
Swayam Farmer Foundation has reached out to Ramkishan and now trains him to cultivate vegetables and fruits – from sowing to harvesting to selling. Ramkishan wants to grow cauliflower in the coming season and he hopes to make a profit of INR 2,00,000. He will use that money to make productive investments and grow higher value crops. He hopes to send his daughter to an English medium school next year.
Swayam endeavours to bridge the knowledge gap. It provides critical know-how and interactive learning tools to farmers like Ramkishan to grow horticulture crops, creating pathways for them to escape poverty forever. We aspire to strengthen last mile information transparency that will lead to a 60% increase in farm productivity.
