    Egalitarian Education Foundation

    from Pune, Maharashtra

Hello World,

We come to you with a funding request on behalf of the Egalitarian Education Foundation (EEF), a registered NGO based in Kharadi, Pune from the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The EEF runs the Sunrise Community Center: a space dedicated to upholding the values of self-directed learning.

We dedicate our existence to kids from lower income backgrounds and hope to make our space their universe.

We are enhancing the lives of kids within our local community and outside, by providing them the environment and guidance to identify and pursue their own learning needs.

Our kids have used our space to explore their artistic skills, build cognitive traits, participate in community building, and play competitive sports.

Our primary need for funds is to finance the many learning needs of the children that come to our center. We hope to inspire you with our story and vision so you can rest assured that your donation is put to great use.

Your funding is likely to,
  1. Pay for a kid’s learning need (fees for a dance instructor or English lessons)
  2. Help us invest in learning infrastructure (like buying building blocks for younger kids or investing in a 3D printer)
  3. Finance real-estate expansion plans so we can accommodate more footfall
  4. Cover operational expenses for running the Sunrise Community Center
We are indebted to your generosity and your commitment to help us achieve our goals. Our mission is sincere and our existence incomplete without your patronage. Thank you all!

Our History

Our space was founded by 2 Teach for India Fellows Harsh Maheshwari and Manoj Iyer in summer 2013 who were undertaking their fellowship at the Sunrise English Medium school in Kharadi.

Sunrise Community Center (or just Centre as fondly called by our kids) was then used as an after-school place where kids could explore their hobbies, participate in skill building workshops, strengthen their local community, and pursue their academic goals. Over the years, we have built a repository of resources – board games, a library, art supplies, musical instruments, cooking equipment, sports equipment, computers, tablets and other useful odds and ends, that close to 300 children have come to use in various capacities.
