About the Fundraiser

Hello and greetings! I am Nilachala Parida, 24 years of age from Bhubaneswar, Odisha , India and I am a mountaineer. I have signed up for the Eco Everest Expedition 2020 with to climb the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest and through the climb I am also supporting a great cause. I am starting an initiative called #ClimbForGood. Through the platform I generate by my Everest expedition and through all the attention which I get, I will be raising funds for underprivileged kids to take them for free trips to the outdoors and introduce them to the beauty and learning's nature has to offer.

The cause:
One day was sitting with a group of friends at Jawahar Institute of mountaineering & winter sports in Pahalgam, when I faced the most embarrassing question of my life. “you are from Odisha,? But where is Odisha, is it a state? Is odisha part of Jagannath, Puri” quipped one of his friends.

A simple query that as A the first time I am shock. Who took it as a challenge and vowed to bring recognition and attention to his state. “I was taken aback. It was first time I realized my state was not known to many in the country, Let alone across the world. That day, I resolved to bring laurels for my Odisha so that people recognize it” says.
A year later is on the verge of achieving the fate as is set to embark on the journey to scale seven summits across the world – Mount Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Vinson Massif & Castensz Pyramid. If he manages to scale the seven summits, will be the first one from the state to do so.

Me & My Go India adventure group already received selection letters for scaling four summits and is expected to get the letters for the remaining three soon.
“Yes my family had reservations initially about the expedition. But then they knew about my love for the nation and so gave in to my demands” he admits.

Due to a serious lack of awareness towards the outdoors, people don’t realize how important it is for everyone, especially the young minds to spend time in the outdoors. It helps the overall personality develop in a very dynamic manner. It is my goal to promote the outdoor culture at a grass root level as it has so many learning's and benefits.

As a kid, I was an extreme introvert throughout my schooling life and I had a serious lacking of confidence. It was up to a point where I avoided getting up to wash my hands after the lunch break in our school because I might have to talk with other people. But then I started trekking and suddenly everything changed for me. Nature did its magic on me and eventually I could talk to everyone and anyone very confidently. Spending time in the outdoors changed my life completely and I believe this is something every young individual must have in their lives and this will also promote the outdoor culture at a grass root level.

I will be working with a number of foundations across the country to take some unprivileged kids who might otherwise not get a chance to experience the world of outdoors and if I am able to impact even one young mind, it will all be worth it.

Currently, he is also training 21 other youngsters including four girls at Khandagiri hill every morning, will be accompanying him to Kashmir to undertake the basic mountaineering course & 15 members are all ready completed the basic mountaineering course.

We are Appeal For Help

Mountaineering is a very expensive sport and the expedition to Everest costs 30 lac rupees which is almost 43,000 USD, out of which, I aim to raise 23 lac rupees on milap. At the age of 24, for someone like me who is struggling to make ends meet, it is an impossible task to spend 30 lac rupees at this stage in life but I believe something like money shouldn’t stop you from dreaming big and this is where I need your support.

How can you support me?
- Donate:
Reaching out for help is not something I have done before nor am I comfortable with it. However, I realize the magnitude of this dream and it will not be possible without your help and support. I understand it is your hard earned money but any donation, no matter how big or small will go a very long way for me and the cause that I am working for

- Help me connect with brands:
I am looking forward to collaborating with brands that understand and share my vision and beliefs. Everest would only be the beginning of my journey and there are many groundbreaking milestones in my vision down the line. Any association would bloom in a very beautiful way and I promise to go that extra mile to make sure it does!

The outdoors has given me a lot and made me into the person who I am today. It is my duty to give back to the society and through every climb I do, I will be helping the needful.
In case any of you know someone high up in the corporate ladder, you can help me connect with them.

  • The expedition will begin on the 5th of April from Kathmandu and it will take approximately 58 days to get to the summit and back to Kathmandu.
  • I will be one of the very few Indians to climb Everest from the North Side & South Side as compared to hundreds of Indians who have climbed from the traditional route on the Nepal.

My training regime for Everest & International Seven Summit:
An expedition to Everest requires immense amount of physical and mental strength and I am spending most of my day training for it. Leaving no stones un-turned. I wake up at 3:30am every day and my day begins with some pranayama, Surya Namaskar and meditation. It helps me maintain a level of focus and mental composure. Mental fitness is of utmost importance. I leave my house at 5am for a long distance run or cycling which lasts around 2 hours. At 7am, I hit the gym for cross fit training. In the evening I load my rucksack with rocks and water bottles to add up the weight to around 25 kg and I go up and down the stairs as many times as I can and I end my day with some relaxing yoga session and stretching. None of the workout which I do would be much effective if it isn’t followed by clean and healthy dietary plan

My love story with Everest:
My love story with Everest began 12 years ago. I remember this incident very vividly because it changed the course of my life. I was watching the news and he called me to see news coverage of Indian Army Solders fight in Siachen Glacier temperature -50  &  Arjun Vajpai, a 16 year old boy who had just climbed Everest. While watching that, something happened to me. A spark was ignited within me and I was so inspired. I decided to give trekking a try and that was it. I was completely hooked to this beautiful lifestyle of outdoors. During my first hike, as a 12 year old, I promised myself that one day I will climb to the top of Everest & Seven Summit and over the years this goal has turned into an obsession and it has become the single most focus of my life. Every time I see a picture or a video of Everest, I get tears in my eyes; that’s how badly I want to be on that mountain.
