    This fundraiser will benefit

    Chandu

    from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh

“Our elder daughter was just about Chandu’s age when we got to know about her liver disease. But it was too late for her, doctors said that she wouldn’t survive more than a few days and the prediction came true. We took her back home on Saturday and she was gone by Monday. Now, Chandu...she has the same disease and it’s no less than hell to watch her suffer just the same. I don’t want to lose her too”
-Kumari, mother

She needs a liver transplant to survive

“It started with a fever which we thought would eventually go away, but things just kept getting worse. Her eyes turned yellow, her skin turned pale, her stomach started to bulge and her feet started to swell. Traumatizing memories that were buried deep inside, came back to us and we rushed her to the hospital; our worst fears came true and it turned out to be the same disease.” - Samelu, father

12-year-old Chandu suffers from chronic liver disease that is causing her liver to fail. She needs a liver transplant at the earliest to make it through.

2- 3 Litres of fluid accumulated in her belly

The poor child suffers from constant fluid accumulation in the stomach, which has to be drained frequently to relieve the pain, but it only returns twice as worse. The regular visits to hospitals and heavy doses of medication have left Chandu weak and exhausted. She is unable to move even an inch without feeling immense pain and just wishes for all of it to stop.

“Her stomach keeps constantly growing due to the fluid accumulation and every time the doctors remove the fluid, it is no less than 2-3 litres. I can’t watch her suffer like this anymore but we are unable to afford the transplant, either. The cost is way beyond our means and I don’t know what to do.” - Kumari, mother

Only you can help them save Chandu

Chandu is a lively little girl who loves to play around and spend time with her parents. On Sundays, she used to accompany her parents to work and play around with other children but after the pandemic struck, their life completely changed.

“This past year, we hardly got any work. It was so hard to get by that we often slept on an empty stomach to feed our children. We had hope that things will get better, but we never thought our daughter would have to fight a battle of life and death instead. Every time we visit the hospital, the cost of the treatment exceeds what we earn in an entire month. We are just labourers, who barely manage to keep the family afloat, how will we...We lost our firstborn before we could get her the treatment. And now, even though the cure is right in front of us, we are helpless. You are our only hope. Please help us save our child!” -Samelu
