Laxmiben from Surendranagar, Gujarat runs her own enterprise and has a teenaged child. Her story is similar to Laxmi, a young tailor and a mother of two from T. Puthur village, Tamil Nadu. Supported by Milaap lenders like you, they built toilets in their homes. With their easy access to sanitation facilities, their families no longer have to relieve themselves in the open, and they are safe from the risk of attacks and infections that occur due to open defecation. Further, their medical savings helped these two mothers repay their lenders in installments. Like these two mothers, almost 50% of India’s population needs a way out of the sanitation crisis they have to endure.
This year, India completes 70 years of independence. In strong support of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, we want to complete 500 sanitation loans. We have been able to raise funds for 4,500 families, and this Independence Day, we can take this number to 5,000, with your help.We need your support to spread the word and maximize our reach. All loans made by you will be matched by our generous impact partner, Tarsadia Foundation, thereby helping us hit our goal faster. Join us to help 500 people get freedom from open defecation.
