“The other day I was standing near the billing section, waiting for something when I overheard someone saying that his son’s treatment is costing him lakhs. I was shocked. What if my daughter’s treatment costs us more, I will never be able to pay that. What if she needs to stay in the hospital for more than a week? How will I afford that?” - Deepak is anxious and scared.

His 1-month-old baby girl is fighting for her life in the PICU but this father is helpless.

One look at her face and we knew nothing could be wrong with her, but…

Deepak and Papia were very happy when they found out that they were soon going to be parents. Deepak was working as a daily wager in Rajasthan and was home for his wife’s delivery. But the road was not smooth for them - during one of her ultrasound scans, the doctor told them that their baby has kidney problems.

 

“We were heartbroken - why did it have to be us? But we didn’t lose hope. We took good care of Papia, she didn’t miss any of her medicines. And when the baby was born and we saw her innocent face we couldn’t believe that anything could be wrong with her” - Deepak, father.

But the baby’s kidney problems were real - the scans didn't lie

Just 10 days into this world and Srabanika started showing signs of discomfort.
 

“There was a swelling in her stomach and the way she cried throughout the day, I knew she was in a lot of pain. We took her to the doctors only to find that the kidney problems were real. The scans didn’t lie. They said that she needs an immediate surgery,” - Papia, mother.

Srabanika’s kidneys didn’t function properly - she was unable to urinate. The desperate parents didn’t want to waste a single moment.

“My father-in-law works at a construction site in Bangalore. We came here hoping that we will be able to cure our daughter and just last week, she underwent surgery.”

But that was not the end of this baby’s suffering. She contracted pneumonia and since then has been under ventilator support. She needs to stay in the hospital for another week or so.

 

“We have already spent so much, over 2 lakhs. I had to sell my only piece of land for the treatment. But now I have nothing left. We can’t even afford two meals in a day.”

Papia is inconsolable, she fears that she will lose her only child if they can’t afford the treatment. Her fear is not without any basis. They need 10 lakhs to save their daughter. Now, you are their only hope.
