Her Bones Are Visible Through Her Skin, Cancer Is Spreading Rapidly

A rapidly spreading cancer

In September last year, 4-year-old Reet suffered from a high fever that refused to go away and she started suffering from multiple complications. Despite visiting several doctors the cause remained unknown. All this while, the little girl suffered a lot. Her weight started to fall, her stomach started to swell and she could barely eat anything. But the parents never thought it would turn out to be a deadly cancer.

Reet suffers from Metastatic Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that spreads aggressively. In reet’s case, cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, bones, bone marrow, liver, and skin. Now, it is also affecting her brain. She needs multimodal therapy- chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and a bone marrow transplant as well to survive cancer.

She is just 4 but she is so much braver

“One morning I got to know that Reet was in pain the entire night and when I asked her why she didn’t tell me she said, ‘ You looked tired after coming from office, I didn’t want to wake you up papa’. She is just 4 but she is so much braver. I know how hard and painful it is for her but she never complains. I want her to stop suffering, I want her to live a normal life like other children but I am failing to provide her that.” - Deepak

The parents are still in shock with everything that is happening around them. They had no complaints with God as they lived a happy life with beautiful children and enough income to live comfortably. Reet was never sick before, there were no symptoms at all and now all of a sudden she is fighting between life and death.

We are just middle-class people trying to make the ends meet

“For years I worked at a hospital as a duty manager. Every day I used to see families struggling to afford finances for their loved ones and I tried to help them as much as I could. But now, my own daughter is struggling to survive and I am unable to do anything. The cost of the treatment is a lot and I am doing all I can but there is no way I can afford it alone.” - Deepak

Both their children had to drop out of school as they are unable to afford the fee. They have spent every rupee they had on the treatment so far and they have nothing to continue.
