My son Arhaan Shaikh is like any other 2-year-old. One look at his mischievous smile, and it becomes difficult to even imagine how his very own heart is making him weak from the inside. 

He is our third child. Most of the time, I don't even feel like there is something wrong with him. He is so happy and active all the time. It isn't until you see him lying on the bed, too weak to even walk due to the onset of sudden high fever, do you realise that his heart is making this child's life miserable.

It is every parents' responsibility to protect their child from misfortunes. It kills me to know that we can't protect ours, only because we don't have money.

"He has been suffering since his birth"

My son has a hole in his heart. We found out about my son's condition few months after he was born. While the doctors then said that my son's diagnosis wasn't a big concern and he would be fine when he continues to grow, 2 years down the line and we continue to fight for his well-being!

The doctors have advised an urgent heart surgery without which my son's life would be filled with nothing but complications.The estimated cost is Rs 2 lakhs, and I am struggling to arrange the funds that could save my child's life in such a short notice.

"I feel like as a father, I am failing my child"

I have come to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh in search of job. At present, I work as a daily wage labourer and earn upto Rs. 250 per day. It is difficult to survive with that salary, especially if your child requires constant medical support. My other two kids are in school. We have been moving hospitals every since he was born and have exhausted whatever little savings we have had.
If I could give my life to save my baby, I would do it in a heartbeat. But I know life doesn't work that way. If we can't arrange the funds within next few days, I will have no other option than to let my child's fate take its course.
