    Khashiraya Sidhramappa Kakamadaki

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

Kashirayappa born on 5th June,1993 is a 23-year-old from Bijapur.  He completed his BA, B.Ed from Bijapur and had just started to pursue his MA four months back, at Belgaum University. Soon after two-months he started having fever frequently. He went to a doctor in Bijapur and got a CDC test done. The test showed a very low platelet count and the doctor diagnosed it as first stage of leukaemia.

The world around Kashirayappa started to shatter slowly. He was also working as a part-time lecturer at a college nearby but he could not juggle between his work and the course. Soon as his fevers got worse he had to let go of the part-time work too.

Kashirayappa is the youngest child to his parents. He has five elder sisters and all of them are married. His mother and father live in the village back in Bijapur and are farmers.  His parents are in their 60s and are unable to do hard labour. Kashi as he is called by close ones is the only hope to his family. The family owns 3 acres of cultivation land where they grow corn and rice. The crops grown in their land is just about enough for their own consumption, and its dependent on the season.

Kashirayappa’s father is also in debt as he had previously borrowed money during the wedding of his daughters. The father is now forced to go into hard labour to clear his debts. The family’s annual income is Rs. 11,000 with the seasonal changes in their crop cultivation.

After the diagnosis, he first went for a treatment in Maharashtra. Turned out that the treatment was very expensive and the hospital was not a good one either. Then as suggested by his cousin who was working in Bangalore he later came to NH, where he was advised to undergo an urgent BMT.

It's been since two months since the doctors at NH have started chemotherapy to for Kashirayappa. The first month after chemo, he had continuous nausea for 20-days and even had a lot of trouble getting up. Second month turned out better with less side-effects from the chemo. His sisters have been taking turns and looking after Kashirayappa.

He is currently staying with his second sister and his brother-in-law in Bangalore for the treatment. He also needed blood initially so the eldest sister- Sunanda stepped up and donated her blood.

His BMT is scheduled in the first week of December. The approximate cost of the surgery is 12L and paying for the surgey is beyond Kashirayappa’s and his parents means.
This is where we need your support. Please support Kashirayappa in getting back to his life.
