“Help a Curious Constellation of 22 amazing stars to move into the next phase of their path to success!”
I am Thasneem Fathima, a 2016 Teach For India fellow. I am currently teaching a group of ambitious girls of grade 8 at Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam. I have mentored them for four months now and I believe in their ability to reach great heights if given the proper channel of opportunities. Each one of them aspires to be a valuable member of the society and wants to contribute to betterment as a doctor, teacher or an IPS officer.
The determination and hardwork of these girls even at trying times keeps me going and pushes me to set the bar high for their development and strive for their excellence. Most of them are balancing studies whilst helping their parents in daily household chores as the parents work to make ends meet. They predominantly come from a house with just a single room where they don’t even have a space dedicated to studying. Moreover, I don’t have a separate classroom to teach them which makes it very difficult to properly utilize school time.
With two years to board exam, some of them are still not at required grade level. It requires quick and effective action to make all of them ready to take on the board and come out with flying colours. For their holistic development, it is necessary to give them exposure to varied opportunities like sports, talent exams, field trips, projects and weekly tasks. I would like them to make the best use of resources and opportunities and become independent learners and leaders.
It will be really great if you could help these girls with how much you wish to. With this contribution you can help these amazing little children to reach wonderful places about which they have dreamt of and can change their life altogether!
With one term of grade 8 already done, the following are the needs of our classroom for which we need help at the earliest.
