Hi friends, I am Zishan Ghizali, a Gandhi fellow. I am working with the Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership in Churu district of Rajasthan.
We are setting up a ‘Community Library-cum-Resource Centre' at Ragha Bari village in Rajgarh, a small town in Churu close to Haryana. The village has a population of about 1,800, according to the Census 2011. The village comprises high youth population. However, its literacy rate is 69.6 per cent, higher than Rajasthan’s average; it’s far less than Delhi’s 84 per cent and the national rate of around 74 per cent.
Many school- and college-going youth of the village are preparing for competitive exams, such as SSC, state-level services and university entrance exams. For this, they need to have an access to good-quality books and resources, and a quite atmosphere to study. People off and on ask me to do something for this, as I am working on education there.
The library, scheduled to be inaugurated this month [April], will have books and magazines for both competitive exams aspirants and school-going kids. We are also planning at least a computer in the library and some essential stationary such as pencil, pen and rubber, among other things.
However, we have collected many old books from friends, teachers and social media groups to start with, those are not sufficient to make a library worth use. We require funding to add more resources to make it a complete and high-quality library. Land has been provided by the community itself.
We will highly appreciate your contribution towards this education initiative.

Amount expected: Rs 45,000
