Gopali Youth Welfare Society is a government registered non-governmental organization, run by the students of the prestigious INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KHARAGPUR, under the guidance of some professors of the institute and with the help of some locals. We at GYWS, strive to uplift the standard of living of the people of the village. Primarily, we do this by providing completely free English medium education to the children of the village, through our flagship initiative, JAGRITI VIDYA MANDIR. Jagriti Vidya Mandir is an English medium school which aims to provide quality education to underprivileged children absolutely free of cost. It is located in the Tangasool village,  5 kilometers away from IIT campus. The school has been completely operational since 15th April 2008. At present, students are educated up to class 5 in the school by ten full-time paid teachers . Complete educational costs of a student, ranging from books, uniform and tuition fees are being currently covered by the society.

The importance of sports and games in school encompasses more than just the benefit of physical training. It increases self-esteem and mental alertness levels and contributes towards all-round development. The lack of adequate sports facilities for most children near their homes has put the onus on schools to take a lead in providing this essential component of growing up. Hence to ensure the overall growth and advancement of the students of our school, we have planned to build a playing area/ park in our school premises.

We look forward to building a park at the earliest so as to provide its facilities to more and more students. GYWS is just a path and mechanism to help the needy, but it is only through generous help and support from everyone, that we can achieve greater heights and reach more and more people.
