Have you heard about scabies? It's is an itchy, highly contagious skin disease caused by an infestation by itch mite. Direct skin-to-skin contact is the mode of transmission. A severe and relentless itch is the predominant symptom of scabies.

The children at Gurukulam in Chinchwad have to face this disease regularly due to lack of cleanliness. There is treatment available for the same but prevention is better than cure. Maintaining personal hygiene is the most basic step as part of this prevention at Gurukulam.

Towards that end, Khana Bachao Khana Khilao (KBKK) is raising funds to install a solar water heater at Gurukulam. The children there are mostly from nomadic tribes, denotified tribes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes. Gurukulam also has child laborers, students from slums in and around Pimpri-Chinchwad, other economically weaker sections of society. A part of raised funds would also be used in treatment of Gurukulam children currently affected by scabies. Thus, we are planning to support the Gurukulam children in immediate cure as well as on-going prevention of Scabies.

If we can join hands for this initiative, it would have a lasting impact at Gurukulam Chinchwad. After all, Helping hands are better than praying lips.

Background about KBKK:
KBKK was formed as a forum to get socially conscious citizens together who are willing to play a part to help the needy in targeted ways. KBKK has been employing different ways to raise funds for solar heater installation at Gurukulam Chinchwad. But we have not be able to gather the full amount before the monsoon during which scabies sets in more rapidly. Thus, we are trying to use Milaap as a medium to achieve this objective at the earliest.
