We the people of Kuttanadu, formed GRAMANIKETHAN in 1994 a non-governmental, non-sectarian voluntary organization as a pledge to work with our fellow beings to find alternatives for a sustainable and integrated development of the place and people, it is a peoples agenda to eradicate poverty, ecological degradation, to improve health and economic standards and to create equality through social justice and peace. It envisages to create an alternate power through self formed landless farmers groups, women’s, and youth groups to countervail all exploitative, destructive and degrading forces on culture, ecology and lopsided development paradigms. The clarion call is to develop and strengthen the human resources in organic, integrated farming, utilize local resources in a regenerative and sustainable manner.
- During the recent flood in Kuttanadu, we worked for rescue, relief and rehabilitation process. We directly supported 3500 families with necessary food items, kitchen utensils, and dress materials, nutritious food for children 400 and senior citizens 100 and computer table and shelf for one Govt school. (For photos of our intervention please visit our website www.gramanikethan.org). Many institutions and people supported us to carry on the process. Now we proposes particular project for the support of education in the schools. It needs different support like, infrastructure, nutritious food, educational orientation etc..
- Due to the heavy flood affected in the month August 2018 damaged the lively hood things of the peoples in Kerala. Especially in Kuttanadu 99 percentage of people are vacated from here to other places. Flood water rise up 2 to 3 meter height. Flood damaged the School buildings and the Furniture. Office stationeries, computer, computer tables, shelf, chairs, water purifiers, inter active boards, printers, projectors, Poor children are studying in the Govt. Schools. Government will construct only shattered buildings only.
Individuals got benefits from different corners but the schools and libraries still have not get anything from anywhere.
- Due to the flood , all the school buildings need Painting, but in the present situation Govt will not do it, they concentrate on other most urgent needs of Govt. The Moncompu Sub district Assistant Education Officer requested us to give them paints for painting the inner walls of the schools to sustain a hygienic and comfortable atmosphere in the schools. If we supply paints school managing committee can paint it. The total approximate cost estimated for the price of paints is Rs. 15000 per school .
- Most of the schools have not drinking water facility. They need Water purifier- RO plant. 100 Litter per hour.
- Most school’s desktop computers were damaged, so the Head masters and AEO are opting for Lap top for each school.

There are about 97 schools and 15000 students. But we select only poorest of the poor students on the basis of the consultation with the PTA . The particular project aimed to support 10 students from each school. That means about 970 students. We will support them with the following items. An estimated cost of 55000 rupees for a student for one year. Total budget will be Rs. 50050000/- We expect a similar amount as donation. - Study table
