Goosebumps, an Ultimate Frisbee Club, was started mainly as an intervention to break gender biases in a socially excluded community in lower tank bund, Hyderabad. Today, we are mentoring and coaching 50 children on life skills through ultimate frisbee. All the children are from under privileged sections of the society.
"I realized the value of women in the sport as well as women in life..." says 14 year old Tahir after playing Ultimate Frisbee for the last 7 months. 16 year-old Kaveri, who is raised by a single mother, firmly believes that ultimate frisbee can eliminate gender inequality by changing people's mindsets. She now mentors the younger kids and one day, wants to see every kid in the community play ultimate frisbee. She wants to support her mother and her sister and ultimate frisbee is that social tool which will help her change the status quo. And just like Kaveri, there are other kids who need your help to sustain this initiative and blossom to its full potential.
Goosebumps has participated in several competitive tournaments and competed against national teams. We are now participating in the UPAI tour 2018 (Ultimate Players Association of India), a competitive series of tournaments held across the country. We are focusing on two of the biggest tournaments this year, Ahmedabad Ultimate Open 2018 in January & Bangalore Ultimate Open 2018 in May.
The kids need sponsors for their ground charges, sports equipment (Cleats, discs, sleeves, uniform), transportation, food, local conveyance and sundries. Your contribution can take us a long way.
