    Nishanth Shetty

    from Udupi, Karnataka

My name is Ravindranath Shetty and I am here to fundraise for Suresh Shetty's 21 years old Nishanth who met with an accident.

I have received this request on our community WhatsApp group. I have never met him. But I was told that it is a genuine request. Manipal hospital doctors letter is attached to his appeal.

Respected All,

Sub: Request for the financial help for the treatment of 21-year-old Nishanth who was seriously injured and lost his right leg in an accident:

His father is resident of Achladi Village & Post UDUPI Taluk - Pin-576225 and working in a restaurant in Bangalore. His wife Jyoti S Shetty is a domestic servant, Son Nishanth Shetty aged 21 years and daughter Nishmita who is studying in 12th Standard (PUC) was struggling with sheer poverty. Due to the worsened financial condition his son discontinued his studies after 10th grade (SSLC) and started working with a private Shamiyana & Lighting contractor and started to shoulder the responsibility of house expenses at very young age.

Nishanth was a very active boy and gained admiration for our villagers/neighbors.

On the night of 17th May at around 11 pm, while returning from the Shamiyana & Lighting work of a wedding function in Upladi near Kota, a vehicle from the wrong direction (driven by a drunken driver) hit my son (who was riding a bike) and seriously injured him. Nishanth was admitted to the Manipal Kasturba Hospital. After fighting for life for 4-5 days, he is survived after his right leg (from below upper leg) has been cut and an operation was done on his arm including four other surgeries.

They have already spent Rs. 3 Lakhs on his treatment and doctor says another Rs.5 lakhs is required for his treatment.

Nishanth, who was the only hope of their family, he took care of his younger sister’s education and their only hope for her marriage in future and support to his parent in old age, but due to this accident, he may not be able to work. We are gravely concerned about the future.

After the accident, His father has left the job to look after him in the hospital. Apart from the insurance of Rs. 50,000 neither they have any other financial support nor do they have any source of income.

Therefore I humbly appeal to all kind-hearted to support them and save their family's future. With regards,

Yours faithfully,
Ravindranath Shetty.
