GeoHazards Society is one of the country's oldest organization working on disaster preparedness and risk mitigation.
They are a small group of highly experienced people working towards making the countries most vulnerable population safe and help them prepare for various natural, human-induced and climate-related hazards.
The GHS team have been working in various parts of South Asia with schools, hospitals, communities, state and national governments with an aim to reduce the vulnerabilities so that disasters like Nepal earthquake of 2015, Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004, Bhuj Earthquake of 2001, Kerala Floods of 2018 and Laipuitlang Landslide of 2013 doesn't repeat.
Most of these disasters are directly related to climate change and with an increase in such extreme events, we can expect a number of people getting affected in the coming few years. Every year India spends thousands of crores of rupees for relief but the disaster keeps occurring year after year. It is time we start investing in preparedness and mitigation so that precious lives can be saved and the effects of climate change can be curtailed.

The donation is planned to be spent in India by Geohazards Society to manage the climate change stress resulting in aggravated disasters resulting in distress among the community.
The world has changed overnight recently due to Covid-19 but the risk posed by a number of hazards still exist. We must not forget this and must address these issues before they are escalated into a disaster of severe magnitude in the coming few days.
