Vikas grew up in the slums of Damunagar. The very slums that got charred to ashes on 7th December, 2015. Vikas is studying Bachelor's in Management Studies and is one of the brightest and hardworking in his batch. Yet ask him what he wants to do in life? The answer is a shrug.
Vikas and many like him end up with degree certificates but no job. "We go to college and study. But hard work just gives me degrees never a job. We have no skills to make it for any basic corporate job. Had some one guided us with our career paths and choices, maybe we will end up with better options. The best our parents can think for us is to take up jobs in BMC because it is safe and it is better than being jobless."
How can you help?
There are over 300 more like Vikas who have a degree but end up with jobs they are over qualified for. It has been a reality of many generations and the very reason why they do not dream beyond the slums of Damunagar.
Bridge with DNA wants to raise funds to mentor these youth. Put their skills to better use and polish them if the need be. Bridge Group will take 300 students under its wing. Conduct training and counselling sessions. Arrange skill developments programmes.
Skills training and career counseling-- tutor fee, course material, travel, space rental etc.
