My uber driver this morning was Girish Kumar Tiwari.

He wakes up at 4am to begin his day and finishes by 1pm. He makes about Rs.1200 daily give or take. His routine has been such since march when he figured he needs dialysis every 3 days. His dialysis is at 4pm so he finishes on those days and heads to the hospital.

What touched me the most is when he said, "mera entry khata main ho chuka hain, na ek din zyada, na ek din kum! Woh soch kar main patient bankar nahin baith sakta! Life toh chalna chahiye!" (Translated: My name has been entered in the book of life and I will live for just those many days. Not a day more nor a day less! I can't think of that and live like a patient! Life must go on!)

He had this smile on his face throughout! The twinkle in his eyes much faded. He needs help just to survive and he didn't tell me this story, I was talking to him and had to ask him to tell me. So there is some dignity as well in him.

See if you can help him in any way. His weekly dialysis and meds cost him 13500. Some money for his Dialysis or something for his drugs if you can donate would be good.

Also he is just about surviving plying taxi for some part of the day, as his condition leaves him weak and unable to work more than he does.
