Support me in my fight against cancer

Hi everyone,

I am Jessie Eyles, 32 years old living in Chennai with my husband and my young three and a half year old son.

On the fifteeth of January this year a self breast exam made me anxious due to some hardness in the left breast. On seeing the doctor and running the tests I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the second stage. A whole body PET Scan conducted on 25 January 2017 revealed a left breast tumour with satellite nodules and mestastatic deposits in the left axillary and left internal mammary nodes.

I am honestly terrified because no one expects to get cancer so young. There was no genetic history of cancer in my family.  As a young mother my heart goes out to my young son and it is my only wish to see him grow into a fine young man.

I have been blessed to be under the supervision of Dr Raja M A, MD, MRCP (UK) Medica Oncology who is my physisian from Apollo Speciality Hospitals based in Chennai and I have finished two rounds of chemotherapy with three more to go after which the doctor will evaluate if there is a necessity to remove the left breast entirely.

Since the cancer I have been diagnosed with is HER 2 NEU positive. HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) is one such gene that can play a role in the development of breast cancer. HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) is one such gene that can play a role in the development of breast cancer.

The HER2 gene makes HER2 proteins. HER2 proteins are receptors on breast cells. Normally, HER2 receptors help control how a healthy breast cell grows, divides, and repairs itself. But in about 25% of breast cancers, the HER2 gene doesn't work correctly and makes too many copies of itself (known as HER2 gene amplification). All these extra HER2 genes tell breast cells to make too many HER2 receptors (HER2 protein overexpression). This makes breast cells grow and divide in an uncontrolled way. Breast cancers with HER2 gene amplification or HER2 protein overexpression are called HER2-positive in the pathology report. HER2-positive breast cancers tend to grow faster and are more likely to spread and come back compared to HER2-negative breast cancers. But there are medicines specifically for HER2-positive breast cancers and I am under an intensive medical regime at the moment.

My husband is currently working very hard to cover our medical expenses however the treatment is extremely expensive. I am seeking your prayers for my recovery and any assistance you can provide financially that will go toward paying for my medical treatment so I can come out of this cancer victorious and live a long healthy life.

Ask for an update
7th January 2018
Hi everyone

I just wanted to post an update on my health to update all of you kind supporters who have been helping me through my journey.

I took a PET Scan on 7th December and met my oncologist Dr Raja. The scan revealed that there were post treatment changes in the left breast, chest wall and axilla with no suggestions of residual disease or distant metastasis.

Overall this is good news which means the treatment has helped and I am on the path of recovery. While the doctor did mention there are no guarantees for future recurrence as long as I complete the treatment cycle on time and take the necessary health measures to stay healthy, I should be okay.

I have two more Hertraz 440 injections on 16th January and 7 February 2018 after which my treatment is complete and I will need to meet with the oncologist for regular check ups.

I just wanted to share this good news and thank you all for the donations, positive thoughts and prayers. Please do continue to share this campaign so I can fund the last two injections and hopefully finish this cycle on time.

My family and I are so grateful, thank you so much and God Bless You. My hair has started to grow back and below is a picture with my doctor.
