Hello!
My name is Neha and I am a Teach For India fellow currently teaching 7th grade in the Govindarajanagar government primary school in Vijayanagar, Bangalore.
As some of you may know, although some of our Government provisions for school improvement our great, budgets for extracurricular activities never reach the schools.
Two of the government employed school teachers and I are keen on taking the 6th and 7th graders of our school (55 students) for an their first ever overnight field trip.
The parents of the students are highly invested but are not able to contribute more than 300 Rs per child. What we need these funds for is to arrange for transportation and accommodation.
We have chosen Shimoga as a destination because there is much to learn there- History of the 18th century stone carvings, Science in the Bird And Wildlife sanctuaries and Geography from the Jog Falls!
Learning cannot only be limited to the walls of the classroom and academics. With this trip, the students will not only see real life applications of what they learn, but also learn to demonstrate more important values of civic sense, empathy, collaboration and gratitude. It's a great opportunity for them to experience holistic learning.
Your donation would be greatly appreciated. The split of the amount is as follows:
Rs 30,000 for buses (overnight stay + 300km travel)
Rs 15,000 for accommodation
