I am running 200 Km to empower rural mothers in West Bengal to build microenterprises and uplift themselves

Angija Bibi recently started her own grocery store, the first of its kind in her little village in Baduria, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. “I was able to accomplish this with a Rs. 12,000 Milaap loan through BJS,” shares the 27-year-old mother of two toddlers. “Earlier, survival was a struggle for our family of six; my husband earned only Rs. 200 a day. We spent a fair sum traveling to the nearest market for food; there was no shop in our village. So when BJS provided the opportunity, I applied for a loan, used it to buy bulk groceries, and setup a small shop in our yard. It helps the seventy families in our village, and I can support my family financially.”

In rural West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas and Jalpaiguri districts, thousands of rural families like Angija Bibi’s are waiting for a similar opportunity to uplift themselves. Financially empowered mothers are more invested in providing better education and facilities for their families, offering greater success in uplifting their communities. So Belghoria Janakalyan Samity (BJS), Milaap’s partner, empowers rural mothers from these two districts by providing them with affordable microloans funded by Milaap lenders like you. The mothers use these microloans to build their livelihoods and provide better for their families.
