    from Gurgaon Rural, Haryana

The region of Mewat (recently renamed ‘Nuh’) lies barely 70 kilometers from the town of Gurgaon, Haryana. It has one of India’s lowest human development index scores. The women face extreme hardships daily – in terms of managing fuel & water resources, vulnerability to domestic violence and isolation, inadequate toilet facilities forcing them to openly defecate, extreme poverty etc. Some of these women work in the fields, but their efforts on the family farm are not compensated.
Asha is also from Mewat and desperately yearns to change her life for the better. She is strong and willing to help herself and the women in her community to become financially independent. We at Janm Foundation are helping such marginalized rural women to gain this form of independence.

Janm Foundation, has initiated a project, which helps commercialize rugs and carpets made by the women of rural Mewat. This craft involves intricate weaving of beautiful fabrics and the process can take upto 3-4 weeks! We were amazed to see the amount of indigenous talent each of these women possesses.

Please help generate a livelihood for these women by donating a frame to the cause. It will go a long way to make this project a success.
Below are the details of frames and associated prices:
  • Large frame: Rs. 2000/-
  • Medium frame: Rs. 1500/-
  • Small Frame: Rs. 1000/-
The life of each frame is over 15 years.

Help us in being agents of change and progress in their lives by your kind donations. You can write to us at JanmFoundation@gmail.com
