    Children

    from Jalesar, Uttar Pradesh

Under various articles of the Indian Constitution, free and compulsory education is provided as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 and 14.
But when I see my village the constitution seem to exist only on papers.
My name is Yogendra Pal Singh, a Indian army veteran. I had served the nation through defense forces for the last 28 years.
I belong from a very poor in Uttar Pradesh, for past some years electricity, technological equipments from fan, refrigerators, coolers were a luxury only possessed by the few of the village rich people.
Luxury for many today also. During my childhood circumstances were not easy, good quality education was not available, no electricity, no connectivity but I somehow managed to get in the army by my efforts and hard work. Today when I visit my village I find only one difference that is connectivity through roads and electricity but to utilise these resources people don't have the purchasing power because most are poor and below the poverty line.
The sole reason which leads for this poverty is poor education system.
I have two daughters and one son who pursued their education from one of the finest schools of India namely Army Public School.
Are graduating from best universities of India.
What I feel bad about is when i see children of my kids age doing labour task, going on farm as labourers, rearing cattle's.
Small children do come to school (primary  school) in village but the sole purpose is mid day meal.
Family are poor and therefore send their children to school for only food, and after having food they leave. Today parents send their children to school and tomorrow these children will do the same with their kids and instead of being productive and resource for the nation they will remain to be burden on the nation. The only requirement of the time is providing these kids with quality education and modern way of teachings, so that they can access good education and turn out to be productive in future.
For this I want a small library to be opened on my land where these children are provided with books of NCERT from class 1 to 12 along with computer education so that they can stand in competition with other children who get their education from good institute.
This will help in overall development of the kids and maybe in future help in elimination of poverty and lifting of their families, society and nation on a whole.

The land  is mine in the village on which shops are constructed and I am planning to convert the shops into library.
I would also include satellite images of the land with a link, if someone would like to visit and see the progress.
I want to open a library which has most relevant study materials related to academics and this library is open for all and accessible 24/7, so that all those who want to come, read and gain knowledge can do so. The strength could be anywhere between 20- 100 in the start and can even go up.
The project is being undertaken by me and my son and is not on a large scale but we would love if some individuals or NGO would like to join us in this social cause.
Cost break up will happen like this
Books: 3000- 6000( I already have some material donated by friends of my kids and some educational institution.)
Furniture: 20000- 23000 which will include 1) Newspaper stand
2) Book Shelves
3) Chairs
4) Tables
Lighting: 500-1000
Some other study material for very poor kids which will include
1)Pencils
2) Pens
