Deepak's Cycling fundraiser for Education | Milaap
This is a supporting campaign. Contributions made to this campaign will go towards the main campaign.

I am cycling trans-himalayas to help diligent students from low-income families in Odisha receive an education.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" - Nelson Mandela.
During my college days, i was equally moved and inspired to know that few of my friends whom i daily interacted with were studying on a sponsorship. That's when i realised the importance and need of education in changing the society. In last few years, i contributed to the sector in someway or the other, by sending money to charitable trusts or by teaching kids who were weak in Maths. Meanwhile i had my share of fun too. I traveled places and went for vacations every year. And to my good fortune, i was able do my dream ride, Manali to Leh last year with a bunch of my college friends. That's when i was inspired by foreigners who instead of bikes, chose cycles to traverse the route. So this year (June 24- Jul 04), My friend Amit Kanatt and i decided to take up the challenge to cycle the same route, one of the toughest roads in the world climbing up to 18000ft even where oxygen content is a mere 53% of what we enjoy down here. During the research and training for this true grit expedition, i met some wonderful human beings and through one of them i came to know about Milaap and what i can do to the society by converting an adventurous ride into a fund-raising event. The best part of Milaap i found, is the idea of crowd funding by which not only the donors would get back their money but also the self esteem and independency recipients would gain while giving back the money.
